Everything I Sweep Goes Right Back in the Pool

Think of Geri Horner's wardrobe and the chances are one image springs to mind: Ginger Spice in a tiny Union Jack dress — a dazzling splash of colour.

However Geri, 49 — now married to Formula 1's Christian Horner — has rarely been seen stepping out in a colour since early 2019 and instead has adopted white as a uniform for everything from the red carpet to mucking out stables.

Last night, the Spice Girl channeled Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe in a plunging cream gown with a complimentary matching shawl while posing for photos alongside the Red Bull British Team principal at the Carrousel du Louvre.

She previously explained her decision behind wearing the colour as a 'uniform' telling The Sun earlier this year: 'Everything becomes really simple. I like the colour, and it's like wearing a school uniform as an adult.

'It matches with everything and I literally don't have to think in the mornings. It's great for busy people - it kind of looks like you've made an effort when you haven't.'

In an interview earlier this year, Geri said wearing one colour was 'great for busy people' because it 'looks like you've made an effort when you haven't'

Geri regularly wore colour up until 2019, when she was last seen wearing a baby pink blouse in April.

However since then, she has only worn a selection of white and cream tones, avoiding colour at almost every moment.

Exceptions to her rule include some advertisements, and the Spice Girls reunion tour when she did wear a selection of colourful and vibrant costumes.

But backstage, her love of white reigned supreme and the singer continued with her favourite uniform trend.

For almost three years, Geri has avoided wearing colour because she feels white looks 'sharp, clean and ladylike'

That same year, sources revealed how Geri had decided to avoid wearing colour going forward.

Speaking to The Sun, they said: 'Geri has lead a very colourful life, but earlier this year she decided she wanted her clothes to become more muted.

'She loves white clothes - she thinks they look sharp, clean and ladylike.

'And she has told her stylists to only bring her white outfits from now on.'

Meanwhile in January this year, she confirmed the decision, explaining to Grazia: 'People say I wear cream or white a lot, but I find it so simple.

Many might associate Geri's wardrobe with the iconic image of her wearing a tiny Union Jack dress at the 1997 Brit Awards

During the Spice Girls reunion tour, Geri regularly wore colourful outfits to perform - but would return to her white uniform off-stage

'And it means that when I put colour on, it feels like a celebration.

'The decisions I make - generally but not always - are very reflective and instinctive of where I'm at. It's organic.'

It's no secret that many of the world's most successful people have a signature 'uniform'.

Simon Cowell has his fitted T-shirts and high-waisted pants, the late Steve Jobs had his black polo neck and blue jeans and Mark Zuckerberg has his hoodies - just to name a few.

In 2014, Fast Company speculated it was because these high-powered individuals have so many other important decisions to make, a simple sartorial routine helps cut out a less necessary one.

Gucci or poochy? Geri co-ordinates her entire wardrobe — and car — with her favourite accessory, Westie Bernie

The former Spice Girl revealed earlier this year it was a conscious decision to ditch colour from her wardrobe and said it was 'reflective' of where she is 'at' within her life

From formal events such as attending the British GP at Silverstone, to mucking out her horses, Geri has strictly followed her own dress-code

No matter what the occasion is, Geri always sticks to her white uniform, which she has said makes getting dressed easier

Last night, Geri was sure to steal the show as she oozed old school glamour in her vintage-style look while accompanying her husband to the bash.

The singer teamed her form-fitting halterneck gown with silver platform heels, while adding a touch of bling with a delicate gold and diamond necklace and matching earrings.

Geri's auburn locks were swept to the side and styled in glamorous curls, while she added a pop of colour to her ensemble with a sweep of pillar box red lipstick

The mother-of-two looked admiringly at her husband amid the celebratory night after his Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 World Championship on Sunday.

It comes after a difficult period for Geri, who was left 'utterly broken' after the sudden death of her older brother who died aged 54 after collapsing at home in November.

Max Halliwell was being treated in intensive care at Watford General Hospital after falling ill at home in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, before he passed away last month.

Geri and Max are known to be incredibly close, with her older brother helping her escape Britain in the chaos when she suddenly quit the Spice Girls at their peak in 1998.

He celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with wife Sue in August and the couple have two children, Lucia and Mark, who will all be mourning his death today.

Colleagues who worked with him at Mitsubishi told MailOnline he was a 'great bloke' who was 'passionate about the environment' and became Vice Chairman at the Heat Pump Association earlier this year. He was also mad about cars and motorcycles, one said.
