To get to Town Square, stand on the bridge where you started the game and look right to spot the purple tunnel past the columns. Go through the tunnel, down the ramp at the end and into the tower with the Whirlwind in it. Ride the Whirlwind up to the top and the Portal will be in front of you.

Checkpoint 1
Right as you land in the level, you'll spot a Red and Green Gem behind you, as well as two more Red Gems and a Green on the wall ahead of Spyro. Climb up the steps to pick up two Red Gems and a Green, then Charge the Metal Chests for a Green and Blue Gem before freeing the Dragon Nils. He'll teach you how to rotate the camera if you haven't figured it out by this point.
Checkpoint 2
From Nils' pad you'll be able to spot the way forward with two Bulls Nils was talking about.
In the Reignited version of the game, you can earn a Skill Point by Charging all eight Bulls in the level. Not only rewarding, in any version of the game this is also pretty funny.
Glide over there, pick up the Green Gem, then Charge the Bulls for a Green Gem each. You'll want to be careful around Bulls as they will charge at Spyro from a distance, even if you're not looking at them! At the end of this area will be two Chests on the right with a Green and Red Gem, and some stairs on the left. At the top of the stairs will be two Chests with a Green and Red Gem, and a brand new type of Chest: the Topper Chest.

Topper Chests are easily identified by the coloured tops from which they get the name I made up for them. The colour conveniently corresponds to the Gem they give, as the Gem forms the tip of the top. To release it, Flame or Charge the Chest to make the Gem to pop up into the air, then jump over the Chest to collect it.
After picking up the Blue Gem from the Topper Chest, you'll no doubt notice the surrounding elevated areas are covered in Gems. However there's only one spot you can actually get to from here: the one with the three Red Gems and the 1up Oyster sitting under the archway. Be careful as you make your way to the Dragon nearby because there's a gap with water between you and him. Cross the gap, pick up the Green Gem and two Red Gems, then free the Dragon Delvin. He'll give you a tip on Gliding, to hit X at the very top of the jump to get the maximum Glide distance. It's not much but it can make the difference between landing safely and falling to your death.
Checkpoint 3
Grab the Blue Gem from the Chest behind Delvin's pad, then Charge the Bull and the Toreador Gnorc running around the fountain, who have a Green Gem each. Smash the Metal Chests near the fountain for two Green Gems and a Blue, then jump up the nearby steps. You'll have probably noticed the Egg Thief taunting you nearby, and you can get to him from here, but we'll get to that later.
First, take out the three Chests near the chickens for two Red Gems and a Green, then Charge the two Bulls charging up and down nearby for a Red and Green Gem. Pick up the three Red Gems on the path they were on, then Charge the two Bulls and the Toreador for a Blue, Red and Green Gem. Smash the Metal Chests near the Return Home Vortex behind the fountain for a two Green Gems and a Gold Gem (your first!), then grab the four Green Gems and the Blue Gem on the other side of the Vortex. Lastly, free the Dragon Alvar nearby and hear him tell you about the Thief nearby.
Checkpoint 4

Okay, so now we'll go back and tend to the area where the Egg Thief was. Backtrack to the stairs leading to the first platform and stand on the raised area at the top of the steps. Face the fountain at the bottom of the steps and stand on the edge of the raised area. Now Jump and Glide, hugging the right-hand wall as you go, to land where the Egg Thief is.
If you're playing on PS4 or XBO, landing on the ground here will pop the "Leaf on the Wind" Trophy.
Pick up the two Green Gems and the Blue nearby and follow the Thief, but don't give chase just yet. Instead, casually follow the Egg Thief into the tunnel and pick up the five Red Gems and the Green Gem at the start of the tunnel, and the three Green Gems at the end. When you exit the tunnel, stop and look to your right to spot three Chests; smash them to pick up a Green, Blue and Red Gem. Pick up the two Green Gems nearby, then Glide over to the spot on the left with the two Basic Chests, which contain a Green and Blue Gem. Smash the three Metal Chests nearby for a Red, Green and Blue Gem, then pick up the two Red Gems and the Blue Gem further along next to the roof of a tower
From there, Glide over to the area nearby with the Bull and the Dragon. Pick up the Green and Red Gems, Charge the Bull for a Gold Gem, then smash the Chests for another Gold Gem and a Blue Gem before freeing the Dragon Thor.
If you Charged all eight Bulls in the level in the Reignited version of the game, you will have just earned a Skill Point!
If you're playing Reignited, Thor will have informed you about the Guidebook (called the Inventory in the PS1 game). No matter which version you're playing, you can access it via the Pause Menu, or by pressing Select (PS1), the Touch Pad button (PS4), View (XBO) or Minus (Switch). In Reignited, you can use the Guidebook to warp to any level you've visited and view your Skill Point checklist.
Checkpoint 5
Nearby Thor's pad is the fourth type of Chest in the game, the Fan Chest. This type of Chest is opened by flaming it to spin up the fan. Flame it three times in quick succession to make the fan spin off and break open the Chest. If you're clever, you can use the fanblade to smack into other enemies or Chests!

Open up the Fan Chest to reveal its Gold Gem, which will complete your Gem collection for this level!
Okay, so now the last thing you need to do is catch the Blue Thief. Go back to the raised grassy area at the top of the stairs and Glide back to where you first saw him. Go through the tunnel and then drop down to the lower area to your left to find where he stopped earlier. Unfortunately he'll just jump right back up to where you just jumped down and return to the start, so get back to his starting position and give chase. He is most easily caught as he exits the tunnel, particularly if you remember to Flame him when you get close.
That completes Town Square! Head back to the Artisan Home via the Return Home Vortex to continue the adventure.
